September 2015 - CULTURAL DIVERSITY ENRICHES US ALL
The rich and vibrant festivals of India are a testimony to our diverse tradition and culture. Festivals of India are characterized by color, gaiety, enthusiasm, prayers and rituals. To familiarize our children with the multi–cultural traditions of our country, Special Assemblies are conducted regularly in our school on various occasions. The month of September had a variety of such occasions.

To pay a tribute to their teachers, the children of our school presented an overwhelming special assembly on Teachers’ Day showcasing their admiration and love for their teachers in their own innocent and admirable ways.

With the festive season around the corner, we, as educators, can capture the beauty of the festivals and build experiences that will go a long way towards children learning about religious festivals, special foods, songs and loads of other information.

Janmashtami was celebrated with sheer enthusiasm to mark the birth of Lord Krishna. The students of class IV and V presented a fabulous and outstanding dance drama which enthralled the audience. They were dressed in colourful traditional dresses making the atmosphere vibrant.

The students conducted the morning assembly on the special occasion of GaneshaChaturthi, also known as 'VinayakChaturthi' or 'VinayakaChavithi', celebrated by Hindus around the world as the birthday of Lord Ganesha. The tiny tots of Emerald presented a dance performance. All the students danced with enthusiasm on the song ‘O my friend Ganesha’ to pay a tribute to Lord Ganesha.

A special assembly on Eid-ul-zuha was organized by the students with fervour and enthusiasm. They also talked about the various traditional customs and rituals followed by the Muslims during the celebration of this festival.

With an aim to rekindle the love for India’s official language among students, a special assembly was organised in our school. The children of class II recited a poem on Hindi language and few dohas of the famous Hindi poet SantKabir Das.

The main aim of celebrating different festivals was to spread the lesson of brotherhood, peace and prosperity among the students, irrespective of their caste or religion.

29th September 2015 - VISIT TO GANDHI MULTIMEDIA MUSEUM

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony” - Mahatma Gandhi
The Eternal Gandhi Multimedia Museum (Gandhi Smriti earlier known as Birla Bhavan) is one of the world’s first digital multimedia museums. It is located at the site where Mahatma Gandhi attained martyrdom. The Museum presents historical records of Mahatma Gandhi’s life, and aims to revive and redefine the values by which India obtained freedom.

To promote an understanding of Gandhiji’s values and to catch glimpses of his life, the students of classes III, IV and V of our school visited the Gandhi Multimedia Museum on 29th September 2015. The students were elated to see the historical events of Gandhiji’s life as well as the spectrum of information technology visions inspired by Gandhian thought that were on display in the museum.

The students were able to relate to the life of Gandhiji through photographs, descriptive panels on landmark events of his life, panels reproducing his favourite bhajans, boards displaying his famous words, bookstore and the two rooms reconstructing the last 144 days of his life at the Birla House. A video clip which embroidered Gandhiji’s life was also shown to the students.

The students were absolutely thrilled to start the engine of the Bharat Darshan Train which showcased the destinations travelled by Mahatama Gandhi after returning from South Africa to India. It was overall an enlightening and delightful experience for all the students.
