29th February 2016 – Character Dramatization
“Acting gives you a story to tell, a reason to cry, And lets you for once be someone other than yourself.”
Role play is the basis of all dramatic activity. The ability to step into another character’s shoes comes quite naturally to most children. Activities like Character Dramatization challenge children to develop a more sensitive understanding of a variety of viewpoints whilst sharpening their language and movement skills. By adopting a role, children can step into the past or future and travel to any location, dealing with issues on moral and intellectual levels.
A Character Dramatization Competition was held for the students of classes III to V on Monday, 29th February 2016. Children came dressed up in their favourite literary characters like Harry Potter, Anne Frank, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Sherlock Holmes, Oliver Twist, Helen Keller, Pinocchio etc. The passionate enactments were appreciated by everyone present. The Head of the School congratulated the students on their wonderful performances and encouraged them to showcase their innate talents.

“Storytelling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world today.”
Children have an innate love for stories. Stories create magic and a sense of wonder at the world. Story telling enhances the children’s vocabulary, teaches them about the world, allows them to use their imagination and creativity and increases their verbal proficiency.

16th - 19th February 2016 - Freestyle: Solo Dance Competition
“Dancing is like dreaming with your feet!”
Dance is a natural method for learning and a basic form of cultural expression. Children move naturally. They move to achieve mobility, they move to express a thought or feeling, and they move because it is joyful and feels wonderful. When their movement becomes consciously structured, it becomes dance.
Keeping this thought in mind, a ‘Freestyle’ solo dance competition was organized on 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th February for the tiny tots of Preprimary. Freestyle dancing involves different types of dance moves and dance steps, and leaves the dancer free to mix & match and move in any way desired. The competition started with great zeal and enthusiasm. The small wonders came dressed up in colourful costumes and enthralled the stage with their outstanding performances. Children even made use of interesting props like hats, colours, flags and sticks. The happiness of the children was amply evident with applause and appreciation. The Head of the School appreciated the performance of the children and also encouraged them to participate more in such competitions to enhance their talents.
