27th November 2015 - Annual Athletic Meet at SRWS
“All work and no play make Jack a dull boy”. This proverb highlights the importance of sports in our life. Participation in games and sports develops a feeling of discipline and sportsman spirit among students. The students learn to accept both victory and defeat with grace. With this thought, S R World School celebrated the Annual Athletic Meet on 27th November 2015. The athletic meet commenced with the oath taking ceremony. This instilled a feeling of camaraderie among the students. The highlights of the day were the colorful performances and fun filled track events by the students. There was significant excitement in the air.
The tiny tots of Pre School presented a musical drill on the beautiful song ‘A beautiful day’. The little ones of Pre-Primary presented a zumba (dance & aerobic workout) which made us all groove over the beats. The students of classes II and III presented a spectacular Yoga performance. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual discipline which originated in India centuries ago. One of the beauties of the physical practice of yoga is that it supports and sustains us no matter how old or young, fit or frail. The Daisies and Daffodils of class I showed us some great taekwondo techniques. It is indeed important to train our children in such self defence techniques. In this competitive world, many people find it hard to dedicate time for physical exercises. The students of class IV and V showcased an easy method of maintaining a perfect figure through dance aerobics. Watching the students in perfect synchronization was a treat to the eye.
The sporting events included 35m sprint race, house relay race, fun races such as buddy race, candy race, jungle race and various other races. The participants exhibited tremendous amount of zeal and fervour to reach the finish line amid cheers from their friends and teachers. After the completion of the athletic events, the proud winners were honoured by our respected Headmistress, Mrs. Sudha Sadangi with gold, silver and bronze medals. The little sports stars with shining bright faces flaunted their medals and gained appreciation and thunderous applause from one and all.

22nd April 2015: Earth Day Celebration
“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors;
We borrow it from our children.”
Earth Day is celebrated every year on the 22nd of April to promote the idea of ecology, encourage respect for life on Earth and highlight growing concerns about different kinds of pollution.
SRWS, Dwarka celebrated the International Earth Day on Wednesday, 22nd April 2015 with great enthusiasm. A special assembly marked the event in which cheerful students sang the Earth Day promise song through which they pledged that united together they will take care of Mother Earth and keep her beautiful. The importance of Earth Day was eloquently explained by the students of Class V. The students also recited Hindi poems on the theme ‘Aao Dharti Bachayen’. Colourful banners and placards conveyed important messages such as “Every day is Earth Day”, “Reduce Recycle Reuse”, “Love the world you’re on”.
The little ones were engaged in an interactive session in the assembly where simple yet significant questions like ‘Why should we plant trees?’, ‘What can we do to reduce pollution?’ etc were highlighted.
Interclass poster-making/colouring competition was organised wherein students painted their thoughts on nature conservation.
Later in the day, children were shown videos in their classes related to environment conservation and they learnt the importance of preserving planet earth. All the students promised to do whatever little they can to help the planet by taking small steps like switching off lights when not required, not wasting water, throwing garbage only in bins. They went back home with determined hearts to play their part in protecting their world.
We must all realize the danger and start taking small steps like planting trees, limiting the use of vehicles thereby reducing pollution and also conserving petrol. These might be small steps but when a billion people do it together, the results would be encouraging!
